Did you Punch Someone in the Stomach Today?
Two days ago, my wife asked our well-behaved three-year-old son, “How was your day?” To this our son replied, “Good. I didn’t punch anyone in the stomach.” And while we tried to hide our shock and laughter, he then proceeded to walk away as though that were perfectly normal criteria for a good day even though he never gets in trouble for fighting. And it is. Many days, I think we all have the urge just to punch someone in the stomach for one thing or another, but we don’t, and because we don’t, well, it’s a good day then. So by these standards, every day of my life has been a good day so far. I can only hope I keep my fist out of someone’s soft lower abdomen tomorrow. And if I do, well then, it’s another good day for me, and probably another good day for you.
